About Us

The Medford Contributory Retirement System is a defined benefit system governed by a five-member Board pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 32 and 840 CMR, which are the rules promulgated by the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC).  The Retirement System is one of 104 Contributory Retirement Systems in Massachusetts and provides retirement, disability, survivor, and death benefits to members and their beneficiaries.  Membership is mandatory for most permanent part-time employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week and all permanent full-time employees of the City, Housing and School (non-teachers) employees.
